[IFR February 2018] Automation of production increases worldwide. Today, 74 out of 10,000 employees in the manufacturing industry worldwide estimate. The average robotic density in Europe is higher, with 99 robot units per 10,000 employees.
The ten most automated countries in the world are: South Korea, Singapore, Germany, Japan, Sweden, Denmark, USA, Italy, Belgium and Taiwan. This according to “2017 World Robot Statistics”, issued by the International Federation of Robotics (IFR).
Robot density is an excellent benchmark when comparing the differences in the manufacturing industry’s degree of automation in different countries, says Junji Tsuda, CEO of IFR. As a result of the large amount of robot installations in Asia in recent years, the region has the highest growth rate. Between 2010 and 2016, the average annual growth rate for robotic density in Asia was 9 percent, in America 7 percent and in Europe 5 percent, Junji concludes.
